Kuirau Park is right in the centre of Rotorua, lots of bubbly mud and hot water, tracks to ride/walk around and good parking

Rainbow Moutain 22/8/09

Rainbow Mountain is on the Taupo Road on the way to Waikite hot pools.
I meet up with bro there and we went for a walk up the mountain, 15 min .
Lovely little walk and great views at the Crater lake look out.

This is a Rotorua district Council camp. Very nice only two of us there but a lot of trout fisher people where dropping for a fish, and catching them too. stayed here one night on the way to the hot pools, it is about 30 kms from Rotorua.

Okere Falls 18/8/09

On the way back called into look at these falls. Could not take a good photo as the Sun was in the way ,but these are used for Kayak salam racing. I am getting the hang of driving this Bus, you have to drive it like a rally car and everyone gets out of the way.

Ruato Bay, Lake Rotoiti 18/8/09

Went for a short drive along the lakes towards Whakatane and stop at this roadside lay by to say hello to some locals

Hamurana Springs 17/8/09

These are at the Northern side of lake Rotorua ,with one of the largest output of water in NZ, I bike around the walking path twice . Could not get a good photo of the spring so here is one of the Redwood trees you go through

Okawa Bay, Lake Rotoiti 17-8-09

Home of the Bay of Plenty Trailer Yacht Squadron, very nice spot at the end of a short road.
About 15 Boats out on Mooring and anther 30 or so in the lock up yards. They have about 15 Kms of lake to sail in, have there own little Club Rooms, and Marina

Rotorua side trip

Due to global warming and the fact that I can not get big enough water wings for the bus I have put of my trip till Monday. (Waterlogged In Mamakau) Paul

Rotorua Side trip

Hi All.
The bus needs a run as it has been sitting here since10 July so have decided to a little trip around all the sights of Rotorua.
Of to the Waikite hot pools this weekend with two bro then to Lake Rerewhakaaitu , (find that one,) then a trip around the Lake stopping at some sites yet to be decided.
Will update when I get back.

Plumbing by Fly by Night Plumbing Limited

This is one of the last things that needed doing, so I had put it into the too hard basket.
Not any more with a lot of help from brother it is nealy all done.
Waste tank fitted and plumbed up, fresh water tank fitted and all plumbed up, califont next but all sorted as regards piping etc

Bro and I got into the plumbing, Dave would be proud of me, will post some photos tomorrow, destroyed half a bottle of Mount Gay

Mamaku Saw mill

Just a few facts about Mamaku to keep you up the play.
It started as a milling town in the early 1900. At one stage there was 14 mills in the area.
Mamaku is about 18 kms from and 1000 Ft above see.
At 2000 Ft Mamaku is one of the highest towns in NZ.

Much better day here still cold but sun shine all day.
Getting stuck into plumbing on bus, tanks all fitted just need pipe out, do that this weekend

Matamata Firth Tower

Stoped here by the Museum, one of the many POP ( Park over properties) run by the motor home club. Very interesting museum

Stop here to go food shopping, a very friendly Motor home Town

Waharau

Waharau is a Auckland Regional Park just down the road from Tapapakanga, went for a ride on my bike and stayed the night in the car Park. No one else there. At the dump station the next morning I saw this local art work, made out of toilet paper, there was miles of it.Just as I was leaving the cleaner turned up, the look on his face was priceless.

Tapapakanga

Tapapakanga is a ARC Auckland Farm Park just south of Orere point in the Firth of Thames.
Stay here one night right down by the beach ,just two bus in the car park, very nice'

Uretiti

Uretiti is a DOC camp in the middle of Bream Bay, stayed here for two days after the first day out of Opua

Waiwera

Met up with Carole and Barry here also Megean

Waikite Valley hot Pools

Waikite Valley Hot Pools are about 50 Kms South of here on the Taupo road, have been there once and am going again on the 15 th. Have camper spots but no cabins.
These would be the best hot pools I have been too.ten pools and very clean changing rooms plus a resturant. Paul
